Snoring Is Disturbing Others
Do you snore? Might be you will say NO in first go, but your
spouse knows more about it. You may feel embarrassed when someone cracks a joke
about snoring in front of everyone. But never get disappointed by this habit.
It is possible to avoid snoring through simple change in lifestyle. Snoring is
not only a disturbance for your loved one, but may lead to heart problems as it
causes disturbance in breathing.
If you are choosing any medications, take advice from the
doctor before picking any. There are some easy tips which can help you in giving
relief from snoring. Let’s have a look.

Maintain your weight. Even few kilograms will
have an effect on snoring. Fatty tissues present around throat exert pressure
on airways thus obstructing the free movement of air.

Avoid sleeping on your back; instead prefer to
sleep on your side. Sleeping on your back results in relaxation of tongue, chin
and other additional fat present in chin, which puts pressure on airways.

Stay away from alcohol before going to bed as it
causes more relaxation of muscles.

Avoid or if possible quit smoking. Smoking leads to irritation in nasal cavity
along with throat which causes swelling. This enlargement in cavity causes
difficulty in inhalation resulting in snoring.

Keep you nasal passage clean. Breathe from nose
instead of mouth. In case of difficulty in breathing from nose, try nasal spray
or other antibiotics as suggested by doctor.

There are simple throat exercises which can be done for
giving strength to the upper respiratory tract. These activities will help you
in getting sound sleep without snoring. It is possible to perform these
exercises with some other activities, hence they don’t require any extra time.

Speak out vowels (a, e, I, o, u) loudly for 3
minutes. Repeat this process for couple of times in a day.

Touch the tip of your tongue with the upper part
of front teeth. Gradually move the tongue backward and repeat this exercise for
3 minutes.

Open your mouth and move the jaw on left side
for 30 seconds, repeat this same process for right jaw.
In extreme cases of snoring, one can go for surgical
treatment for curing structural problems.

It is a very common problem and can be cured easily. If your spouse is complaining
about your snoring habit, never take it personally. Instead come up with some
